Ferranti implements complete ICT infrastructure for Movetis
Movetis is a new pharmaceuticals company specialized in the development of drugs for stomach and intestinal problems. The company develops products based on products and technologies licensed by Janssen Pharmaceuticals and Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceuticals. Both are subsidiaries of the American pharmaceuticals group, Johnson & Johnson. Movetis’ portfolio consists of eight products in various stages of development. The most advanced product has undergone three positive registration trials for the treatment of chronic constipation.
During the start up phase, small ready-made infrastructure with limited scalability was implemented at Movetis. Preference was given to Small Business Server infrastructure hosting file & print, directory services, VPN and messaging on one single server.
Due to critical business processes and the great importance of documentation as well as that of communication channels with various external parties, the existing infrastructure quickly proved incapable of meeting Movetis’ more comprehensive requirements. A project was therefore launched with the aim of improving performance.
The following goals were set in advance:
- Separate Messaging service (based on Exchange 2007)
- Separate Domain Controller – to improve authentication and login performance
- Separate File & print server
- Separate Firewall & Remote Access infrastructure
The primary objective of this project was to provide reliable and high-performance infrastructure that was also open to future growth. Alongside implementation of this infrastructure, Ferranti also provides Movetis with the necessary server support within an operational support contract. This is valid for the above-mentioned systems but also for the implemented IP Telephony solution (based on Escaux technology).
