Infrastructure Update at Nipro Europe
As a fast-growing organization looking to establish a central data centre with connections to various branch sales offices throughout Europe, Nipro Europe went in search of stable, up to date infrastructure capable of satisfying the current and future expectations of customers, suppliers and users. Nipro Europe, a subsidiary of the Nipro Corporation in Osaka, Japan responsible for the sale, marketing and distribution of medical equipment and disposable items opted to work with Ferranti Computer Systems.
Ferranti migrated the initial Small Business Server infrastructure to a more expandable platform. This infrastructure comprised the following elements:
- Centralized file & print server infrastructure with a (geographically) decentralized distribution but where backups are managed centrally.
- Active Directory infrastructure with integrated DNS/DHCP services which can be managed centrally and simply.
- Active Directory infrastructure spread over two or potentially more sites in the future, but nonetheless entirely integrated in order to facilitate central management and administration.
- Exchange mail infrastructure including such features as calendaring and tasks for approximately 40 mailboxes and expandable for all European sites.
- Site-2-site VPN infrastructure to connect remote sites and branch offices.
- A stable client VPN solution for remote users and teleworking.
Alongside the implementation of this project, Ferranti Computer Systems is also responsible for the daily management of this infrastructure together with the IT manager, Marc Grasso.
