Ferranti wins contract for new North Fire Station
Antwerp, May 2008 - Digipolis selected system integrator Ferranti Computer Systems to supply an integrated state of the art dispatch and control room system for the new Antwerp North Fire Station and its outpost stations.
Antwerp Fire Service is aiming to provide the fastest possible, efficient and optimum service. The set-up of the new North Fire Station with its dispatching room, crisis room and modern communication resources will have to meet those requirements. All fire service interventions are to be coordinated from this new central fire station. When called out for an intervention, the outpost stations are controlled centrally from here.
In order on the one hand to help improve its service to customers, make it more rapid and better quality, while on the other hand deploying people and resources in a more optimised manner, Ferranti is fitting out the new Antwerp North Fire Station with the integrated state of the art dispatch and control room system from InterGraph.
The project consists of the supply, installation, implementation support with associated training and customer-specific adaptations, as well as maintenance and the day-to-day support of ICT hardware and software and services for a fully operational dispatching room (dispatching room software, GIS, speech and data logging, building automation, AVL). Intergraph Computer-Aided Dispatch (I/CAD) acts as the basis for the project.
As agreed in the supply contract, the system has to be operational by no later than 1 April 2009, because that is when Antwerp Fire Service is moving into its new fire station on Noorderlaan.
