Ferranti has moved !
Dear customer, Dear partner,
In this newsletter, we would like to draw your attention on the fact that Ferranti Computer Systems has moved to new offices in the Ahlers House building just a bit further on the Noorderlaan in Antwerp.
The former location was gradually showing its limitations and thus Ferranti decided to move to new modern offices with a lot more space. This more space is really necessary as Ferranti is still growing. Not only the number of employees is increasing, but also the number of satisfied customers.
As from now, all Ferranti employees can be found on the 1st, 2nd en 3rd floor of Noorderlaan 139.
The Ferranti reception is located on the 3rd floor.
In this edition of our quarterly newsletter you will also found information on lots of new projects in both our business units Business Solutions and ICT Infrastructure & Managed Services.
At the end, you will also find an overview of upcoming events. Note them down in your agenda!
Enjoy reading,

MIG 4 Release IMDMS at Indexis |
|
Since 2002 Indexis, a federal metering company founded by the mixed intermunicipal companies, has the task to collect data relating to customer consumption (manually or automatically read), process this data and forward it to the market players, (meaning the Suppliers, the Transmission System Operators, Distribution Grid Operators and Balance Responsibles). All of this is to be done in a fully independent, confidential and non-partisan manner, with quality and speed being key factors.
As a result of the new UMIG4 market processes for the Belgian energy market, Indexis has asked Ferranti to adapt the IMDMS solution (Independent Meter Data Management System) to these new standards. The IMDMS solution is based on MECOMS and is used by Indexis for all processes from data collection, validation and allocation to gridfee. The most significant changes can be found in the processes structuring, metering, rectification and allocation. In addition to the adjustments as a result of the MIG, there will also be adjustments resulting from the new Technical Regulations (mandatory meter reading and meter reading by appointment). The project has been set up in March and will be delivered in accordance with the UMIX planning.

Smart Metering at Flower Auctioneers FloraHolland |
|
FloraHolland flower auctions, market leader in the sale of horticultural products, decided to install a flexible smart metering solution, in order to be able to meter the tenants of its auction space remotely and perform energy quality tests.
FloraHolland is a cooperative of horticultural producers with six auction centres, a nationally operating intermediary organisation (FloraHolland Connect) and an import department. The company turned to Ferranti Computer Systems for automation, which goes from acquiring the metered data through to delivering the necessary data to the invoicing system.
The auction company uses Echelon Meters and Data Concentrators, which are read out via Power Line Carrier (PLC) by the MECOMS Smart Metering Communication Bus. The metered data are made available in a portal and also forwarded to the FloraHolland invoicing system. There the auction company’s staff processes the data further. Smart Metering ensures that FloraHolland works more efficiently by means of correct metered data and that it is able to provide better customer support.
The solution has a fully open infrastructure, at both hardware and software level. This kind of open solution provides an infrastructure that is easily expanded and makes it simple to make additions to the system
