ABOUT E.ON

E.ON Croatia has been a valued member of the Ferranti customer family since 2016. We take great pride in our collaboration and the many accomplishments we’ve achieved together over the years.

Background

E.ON Croatia is part of the global E.ON SE group and leads the energy transition in Croatia and Slovenia. Everything starts in 2000, when the E.ON SE group in cooperation with the Croatian Electric Power Company invested in the construction of the Plomin Thermal Power Plant, after which the expansion of the activities continued with the entry into the electricity supply market in 2013, natural gas in 2015 and gas networks in 2017.

The turning point in business came in 2020, when the rebranding happened after the E.ON SE group took over Innogy from RWE, which resulted in a new name – E.ON Croatia. The business focus has shifted towards energy solutions for consumers, speeding up the sustainable energy transition, restructuring the supply of electricity and natural gas and streamlining gas distribution operations. In 2021, the portfolio grows by adding electromobility, power purchase agreements, hydrogen technologies, and green energy solutions.

Ongoing Success: MECOMS at E.On Croatia Since 2016

The MECOMS journey at E.On Croatia began in January 2016, when the Ferranti team implemented the MECOMS solution on Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, tailored for both B2B and B2C gas customers. Since then, a dedicated team has been continuously supporting and maintaining the MECOMS application, including Microsoft Dynamics AX. Over the years, numerous change requests have been handled to enhance and optimize processes at E.On, ensuring ongoing improvements. E.ON, with their dynamic market strategies, frequently introduces new offerings, promotions and discounts. We take pride in our ability to seamlessly implement these changes, ensuring the system performs optimally from both technical and business perspectives.

 

CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS

As of October 1, 2024, E.ON Croatia supplies 9 distribution areas, ensuring reliable and high-quality supply for all its users. This scalability project stands out as one of the most critical in our collaboration timeline. As E.ON aimed to expand their portfolio, the Ferranti team was assigned to enhance the existing system to manage much higher volume of records (increased portfolio from 20,000 to 110,000 gas customers). Our goal was to improve system performance, minimize manual work for business users and accelerate key processes.

Through this project, we implemented several enhancements that ensured the system could scale effectively without compromising functionality or efficiency.
Aurora Project – Croatia transitioning its official currency from HRK to EUR. The Aurora project marked a significant milestone when Croatia transitioned its official currency from HRK to EUR from 1st January 2023. We, at Ferranti Computer Systems, supported this process by successfully converting the system to operate in EUR. The project was executed smoothly, ensuring the system’s main currency was switched seamlessly without disruption.

Seamless Integration Success

Recognizing E.ON Croatia’s commitment to enhancing quality of life for its users while contributing to regional sustainability and adapting to global energy challenges, the IT landscape has evolved significantly over recent years. Since all financial data for electricity and gas is stored in SAP, we have integrated our systems with SAP to facilitate nightly automated transfers of billing data, ensuring smooth accounting operations. Furthermore, we supported E.ON’s new CRM by adapting our system for efficient integration with third-party companies and providing ongoing support to maintain system efficiency.
