Some career moves are planned years in advance. Others begin with a question you never saw coming. Filip Golab’s path at Ferranti has had a bit of both, taking him from writing code in the Microsoft Dynamics stack to shaping MECOMS 365 solutions together with utility customers across Europe.
Since joining Ferranti in 2019, Filip has grown from a Development Consultant in the MPO team into a Solution Manager, working where technology, customers and business meet.

Filip Golab is based in Skopje, North Macedonia. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering and has spent more than a decade in the Microsoft Dynamics ecosystem, around seven years of it in the utilities sector.
Today, Filip works as a Solution Manager, combining solution architecture, pre-sales and business development for MECOMS 365. But when he first joined Ferranti, his days looked very different: he was writing code.
Filip’s story with Microsoft started during an internship at a company working with Microsoft Dynamics AX. It was the first time the concept of ERP truly clicked for him, and the first time he saw the real power of the Microsoft suite.
“That internship opened my eyes. Suddenly I understood how one platform could hold an entire business together, and I knew I wanted to be part of that world.”
His first job was as a developer, moving from Dynamics AX to Power BI and later to Dynamics 365. Along the way, one thing stayed constant: a drive to grow and take on new challenges, which led him through a couple companies before he found a place that truly fit.

In 2019, Filip joined Ferranti. Something stood out from the very first interview with the Mecoms Product Organization Manager.
“I felt it immediately in that first conversation. The culture here was different: more open, more personal.”
He started as a Development Consultant in the MPO team. New processes, new practices and new colleagues, but the same will to grow. Over time, Filip got involved beyond his daily development work: he joined several focus groups and stepped in to present features during MPO release demos.
“I really enjoyed being part of that team. Leaving it was the last thing on my mind.”

“I felt it immediately in that first conversation. The culture here was different: more open, more personal.”
Then HR came to Filip with an unexpected question: would he consider joining Ferranti’s Presales team?
“Honestly, I never pictured myself in another team, and certainly not at that moment.”
The decision wasn’t easy, but after some reflection, Filip committed fully to presales.

As a Solution Consultant, Filip found that a whole new set of doors had opened. Instead of building solutions behind the scenes, he now sat across the table from customers, often from the very first conversation.
“In development, you solve the problem in front of you. In presales, you first have to discover what the real problem is. That shift changed the way I look at every project.”

“I realized that I liked the customer-facing side more and more. Understanding how a business works and translating that into a technical solution really interested me.”
Looking back, Filip sees his move to presales as typical of how Ferranti treats its people. You are noticed, and people genuinely care about where you will thrive. Changing teams isn’t seen as leaving something behind, but as finding the place where you contribute most and feel most challenged.
“At Ferranti, someone actually notices what you’re good at and gives you the space to try it. That’s not something you find everywhere.”
That space to grow also opened doors beyond his day-to-day work. Presales took Filip to conferences, events and summits, where he built a strong network across the utilities sector, Microsoft and Ferranti’s partner community, connections he values just as much as the role itself.

As Ferranti’s Skopje office grew, so did Filip’s role. He earned a seat on the local management team, gaining a view of the business few consultants get to see.

To grow into the role, he completed a leadership development program, building the skills to lead people and make decisions together with the management team.

“At Ferranti, someone actually notices what you’re good at and gives you the space to try it. That’s not something you find everywhere.”
Today, as a Solution Manager, Filip works across solution architecture, customer workshops and project governance. He enjoys helping organizations through complex change, combining industry knowledge with practical technology.
Colleagues know him for his analytical mindset and pragmatic approach, and for connecting strategic objectives with concrete implementation outcomes. Beyond technology, what drives him most is people: working with customers and partners, and turning complex challenges into clear plans.
“The best moment in my job is when a complex challenge turns into a clear plan that everyone believes in.”
With Ferranti entering a new growth phase, with new markets and bigger customers ahead, Filip sees plenty of chapters still to write.
“From developer to Solution Manager, every step taught me something new. My advice? Say yes to the opportunity you didn’t plan for. It might turn out to be the one that fits you best.”
